Whitehaven Rugby League are delighted to announce in partnership with TDA (The Decommissioning Alliance) that we will welcome State of Mind’s Danny Sculthorpe and Phil Veivers to the LEL Arena as we welcome Newcastle Thunder in our final league game of the season on Saturday 10th September which is also World Suicide Prevention Day.
State of Mind was established in 2011 following the tragic suicide of former Great Britain hooker Terry Newton which shocked the game to it’s core. The charity’s aim is to improve the mental health, well-being and working life of rugby league players and communities.
A number of well known league personalities are now involved with the charity alongside Danny and Phil including former Super League referee Ian Smith.
On the day Danny & Phil will talk in the Garry Purdham Suite and JJ McKeown Bar as well as having a stall around the ground to talk about a very personal and important subject with suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.
