Whitehaven Rugby League are delighted to announce the re-signing of Jay Weatherill with the winger/full back having signed a contract extension which will see the Hensingham & Wath Brow man remain at The Ortus Rec until the end of the 2028 season.

Weatherill (26) has seen the last 2 seasons with the club since the start of the 2025 season scoring an impressive 23 tries in 33 games across the two years with the club so far including 14 tries in 16 games this season striking an impressing centre-wing partnership with Ethan Bickerdike as both players had their best professional try scoring campaigns.

The winger ended his campaign scoring 5 tries in his final six games of the season before picking up a foot injury in the final league game of the season in the West Cumbrian derby victory over Workington Town at the end of August in which he slotted over his first drop goal in Haven colours.

Speaking about his time in the Chocolate, Blue & Gold and signing a new extension Weatherill said

“ I feel like signing down here was a good decision and to sign another two years it’s great. I’ve played some of my best rugby down here and I can’t wait to push on”
