Whitehaven RL Vice Presidents has been reformed in 2010 to help raise funds for matters to do with the coaching and team side of the club. The Vice Presidents are officially recognised by the Board of Directors of Whitehaven RLFC and all money raised goes into the Vice Presidents bank account. Money raised will not be used to pay wages, bills or for loan players but members will decide on where the money goes to.
The VP meets monthly on a Friday night where they will have question and answer sessions with various guests from the world of rugby league and other local sportsmen. Some months there will also be the showing of a Haven game as well as guests and on these nights entry is free. Non members will have to pay five pounds to enter. On a number of occasions food will also be provided as well as guests and on these occasions Vice Presidents will receive discounted admission.
The next evening will be Friday 12th March 2010 when Haven captain Leroy Joe will be a guest along with Whitehaven RL Head of Performance and Player Development, Gary Hewer. Come along and hear about their careers and how they view Haven’s recent form and chances for the forthcoming Championship season. There will also be the opportunity to watch the 2004 Challenge Cup game between Whitehaven and Warrington Wolves.
Benefits negotiated so far for the Vice Presidents are:
- Free draw for two match tickets for all home games for members
- Vice Presidents are allowed to enter the ground by the season ticket holder turnstile and buy their ticket there instead of queuing at the ticket office
- Name in match day programme and on website
- Vice Presidents will be allowed to vote past players into the Vice Presidents Hall of Fame twice a year
- Knowledge that the money raised will be used on projects that they approve not to pay bills, wages etc.
Membership of the Vice Presidents costs fifty pounds for 2010 and that can be paid over a maximum of five months.
