Whitehaven today ended speculation over who will be in charge at the Recre next season by handing current boss Ged Stokes a new two-year deal. The contract, ties the Kiwi to the NL1 outfit until the end of 2010.
Ged Stokes admits his toughest decision this week will be who to leave out.
The Whitehaven boss is preparing for the visit of Dewsbury knowing that a win could propel the Cumbrians into the play-off places.
Stokes said: “Our performances at home have been pretty good this year. It’s just a matter of getting our selection right because we’ve got players back. Getting the balance right is the important part.
“We need to have a look at what sort of game we need to play against Dewsbury. They’ve got a big pack so we’ve got to pick the right forwards and get enough timber on the bench.
“Dewsbury are probably getting the desperate stage of their season now so it’s going to be a really difficult game for us.”
Carl Sice and Ryan McDonald should both be OK despite clashing heads last week. Tane Manihera is also back in contention for selection.
Rams’ boss Warren Jowitt said: “There are a lot of areas that we have worked on in training but the one that let us down (last week) was ball control. The lads’ effort is there, it is just about cutting out stupid mistakes.”
